Get Savvy! College readiness workshop for parents of students in grades K-8

Academic Savvy and USC Black Alumni Association collaborated on a college readiness conference for parents and students in grades K-8. The day consisted of workshops for parents on school choice, course planning, and financial aid. Students had a concurrent conference with sessions on college planning and career choices, and they took a guided tour of the school.

After nine years as a school administrator, I went back into the classroom as a sixth grade math and homeroom teach. What an adventure it was! I was able to flip the classroom to a one-to-one iPad model and differentiate mathematics instruction into three levels - sixth grade math, pre-algebra, and algebra I. One of my favorite units to teach (besides my beloved math classes) was Ancient History, specifically the Benin, Egypt, and Bantu regions. Another highlight was our field trip to Astrocamp.
